The Finance Committee exists to aid in the government and righteous stewardship of the resources that the church has entrusted to them.
As faithful stewards, they are called to:
- Use wisely, prudently and correctly the offerings and support given by the members of True Lite.
- Establish procedures to ensure proper security, accountability, and confidentiality with respect to all tithes, offerings and contributions.
- Be mindful that congregation members and others offer offer money gifts to God through the church.
- Review all Benevolence Grants.
- Provide limited financial assistance to members and non-members when such assistance is likely to be effective in 'helping out' until a long term solution is resolved to his or her difficulty. Although the Committee will attempt to review and make a decision on requests in the order received, the urgency of a request will be factored.
The church exists to help those in need and will, indeed, do so when the need is legitimate and as we possess the ability and resources. Everything we do takes money. Our tithe and offering is God's common sense way of paying ministry bills. Not equal giving, but equal sacrifice!
Our church operates on a budget that is based on the cost required to implement the planned activities adjusted by the pledged support of the congregation. We keep detailed records of individual giving, account for all expenditures, and develop quarterly reports.
"Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:20
